Adam's News of the Day

I don't have lengthy thoughts anymore - maybe it's the nature of my work. I move from file to file, case to case all day long, only spending a few minutes on each case. My leisurely reading mirrors my hectic work life. So here we go:

My new favorite website: longform.org. Check it out. It's a compilation of good-sized, worth-a-read magazine articles from all over. Many are current, some are a blast from the past.

Vomit. Ann Romney makes me want to vomit with duct tape over my mouth. While I agree these are fake controversies, they set a tone and have an impact. This little princess gets her thousand dollar panties in a wad because some random commentator on CNN says she hasn't worked a day in her life. Well . . . she hasn't. Working is going to work. Staying at home and raising kids is not a job - it's hard work, it's tiring, it's noble, it's time-consuming. I love that my mom stayed home - I wouldn't have traded that for the world. But, working is going to work. Working is going to a job everyday AND raising your kids. And, let's keep it real here - if staying at home and raising your kids is work, then Republicans need to shut the hell up about unemployed moms on welfare. They're working!!! Aren't they? Wait - staying home and raising kids only counts as work if you're a multimillionaire and can hire nannies and maids. Barf in my mouth.

Reading Assignment. Good article.

Gift. I would like this shirt for my half-birthday. It was last weekend. Thanks.

Relax. Eddie and I are going to try to go here in October. Why?

1. It has a bioluminescense bay.
2. No need for a passport.
3. It's US Territory, so they generally don't lynch gay people.
4. Plenty of time for everyone to get in beach shape.
5. I have a lot of Starwood points. Dad probably has one billion.
6. The small island is sparsely developed and was used by the US Navy as a bombing range.

Alternative Trip Idea. We should alternate winery tours with brewery tours.

Idealistic and Hairy. It's not Craig Moore.

Mars. Space is cool. Space sharks would be cooler.

Art. I'm not a huge fan of art, but this is awesome.
